The Bell
Tower stands in a very picturesque location
on the east side of the center square
of the city of Xi'an, the Bell Tower was
initially built in 1384 in the 17th year
during the reign of Emperor Hongwu of
the Ming. |

an area of 1.126 hectares. It is 36 meters
high and its square base measures 35.5 meters
on each side. The tower is |

two-stories structure with three layers of eaves
and dark green glazed tile roofs. It's gilded
rooftop shines brilliantly in the sun. During
ancient times, the huge iron bell in the tower
was rung in the morning to tell the hour. |
