| Flowery
bun is a kind of food as well as folk art,
very popular in the countryside of Shaanxi.
In the first of the lunar year, on the Festival
of Clearness and Brightness and on the Dragon
Boar Festival, local women use scissors,
hair-combs and spoons to cuts and press
flower, bird or animal patterns on the dough
which are then steamed. They are used for
worshipping sacrifices or grfts for relatives
or friends, symbolizing luck, good wishes
or warding off calamities. |
